Dude's Must See Products for February 2022
In February 2022, I kicked up my coverage of crowdfunding projects. Either because there were a lot of cool crowdfunding projects out there, or because I received a lot of crowdfunding project roundups and tip sheets, and was simply too lazy to search for cool products elsewhere. What can I say, winter doldrums are in full swing.
Lucky for you dudes, the products, crowdfunding and otherwise, that made Dude's must see list for February actually deserve to be here. An untethered punching bag. A stand-up snowmobile. Separation walls and room dividers made entirely of giant LEGOS. A custom katana! Enjoy the lot of them, and adios to you, February 2022.
Note: All products are priced as they were at printing on March 8, 2022. Pricing, and availability, are subject to change.
12 Cool Products That Were Discontinued or Never Made
Wonderful, fantastical, cutting edge, high-tech products, I hardly knew ye. These 12 cool products that were discontinued or never made will probably make you feel a bit nostalgic, or maybe even bummed to have missed out.
Well, either that or hoppin' mad that you backed them during their crowdfunding campaigns, their swashbuckling creators kept your money, and you never got your frikkin' projection watch / 10-second toothbrush / set of human gills! Where is my human-to-fish converter, bitches?! [Deep breath.]
So grab a beer, a bag of popcorn, and maybe a Xanax and a fat bowl to calm yourself down, and enjoy my roundup of 12 cool products that were discontinued or never made.
14 Ways to Turn an Interior Room Into an Outdoor Oasis
Winter weather. Pandemic. High-rise urban apartment building. Housing shortage. Correction, affordable housing shortage. These are just a few of the reasons I decided to brainstorm some ways to turn an interior room into an outdoor oasis. I mean, besides dumping 500 pounds of sand onto your living room floor and plopping the beach loungers and a kiddie pool down on top of it.
Though if the people you live with, unlike the She-Ra: Princess of Power I live with, would allow it, that might be my #1 suggestion. Don't forget the ocean waves white noise machine and inflatable palm trees.
Sill, the 14 items I'm suggesting to help bring the outdoors into your home might be a little more appealing because they actually have a place inside. Most of them will even look good there.
Dayoo Kitchen Steam Cleaner & Dishwasher
Mounted to your kitchen wall, Dayoo claims to annihilate dirt, grease, and germs with a 221-degree blast of steam, both cleaning and sanitizing dishes in about 10 seconds without the use of chemicals. It has a fairly simple, clean (<--- yuk, yuk, yuk) design consisting of a base unit with a water reservoir and controls, and a 4.9' hose with a cleaning head at the end. It also has a 4.9' cable that plugs into a standard outlet to provide power. That base is portable, so you'll have a total cleaning range of 9.8', longer if you introduce an extension cord. This is useful if you want to use the Dayoo to clean other parts of your kitchen, such as the range and oven, vent hood, sink, or tiles.
E132: What Is This Thing?
Hints: 1) If you think it looks like a torture device, consider that a better name for it might be a pre-torture device; 2) If I were a betting dude, I'd bet its favorite movie is Blade Runner; 3) It might not look like the life of the party, but you'll gladly bring it out when things get dull.
Kohler Stillness Freestanding Bath
Be Stillness my heart! Kohler's Stillness freestanding bath is a whole spa experience tucked into a trendy smart tub. Inspired by Japanese forest bathing, the Stillness freestanding bath further enhances its sexy soaking basin with the addition of light, fog, and aromas. Bathers can use the Kohler Konnect app to control all of these elements, and enjoy some truly transportive, and hopefully transformative, self-care.
Box Gobbler Through-Wall Package Drop Door
Hey, if you're willing to install a special door for your pets, why not a special door for your packages? The Box Gobbler from MS Sentinel could prove to be at least as valuable, saving you from porch pirates and weather-exposed deliveries just as the doggie door saves you from pee-stained rugs and piles of poo on the couch.
The Box Gobbler is a through-wall installation consisting of a door and frame, a roller bottom on the inside of the door for ease of package transfer, and a 4- to 6-digit electronic keypad controller. The standard drop door creates a 14" x 28" wall opening, while a larger Box Gobbler model expands the size to 28" x 28".
Viking Pizza Cutting Axe
Leave your enemies be, and hack up the ones you love with this Viking Pizza Cutting Axe. And by the ones you love, of course I mean the Sausage Supremes, the Margheritas, the Veggie Lovers, and the Pepperonis.
Handmade by Bilal Zahid, the Viking Pizza Cutting Axe comes with your choice of an English ash or rose wood shaft supporting an 8.7" 440 stainless steel blade. The blade also features carved runes - real ones, according to Zahid. From left to right they mean: (ride, journey, change); (leader, justice); (joy, success); (horse, motion, energy, power); (need, responsibility); (wealth, prosperity); (legacy, property, inheritance); (ride, journey, change); (gift, love, marriage); and (horse, motion, energy, power).
E135: What Is This Thing?
Hints: 1) It provides protection where you need it; 2) It's a carrier, inside and out; 3) It will help you hang on, baby!
OODA Ball Free Weight Punching Bag
Oooo, da ball's flyin' back at my face. Better punch it again or it's gonna fall! The OODA Ball combines the weight of a medicine ball, with the tactile sensation of a boxing bag, with the bounceback-right-at-your-kisser of a Boxaball. The result: a 1.5-pound free weight punching bag you can pound against the wall or floor to challenge the hell out of your whole body, and Tyson-up your speed, power, accuracy, hand-eye coordination, and endurance.
Emerge Home - Ultrasound-Powered VR You Can Feel
The Emerge Home is a forthcoming VR companion for the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset. A very, you could say, touchy-feely companion. The Emerge Home system uses the Emerge Wave-1, a device that emits ultrasonic waves to create tactile sensations around virtual objects and interactions. In other words, it turns VR into a world you don't just see, but also feel.
EverBlock Building Block Wall Kits
Of course EverBlock can't say it out loud, but one look at these big ol' building blocks, and it's obvious what they are: life-size LEGOs! I first wrote about EverBlocks in 2015, but with the pandemic and WFH requirements / possibilities corralling us into shared, perhaps smaller spaces with our families and roomies, I thought a special showing of EverBlock's Building Block Wall Kits was in order.
Available in an array of configuration possibilities, EverBlock Building Block Wall Kits come with all the blocks and pieces you need to build a modular wall in your home, work, or event space. Since EverBlocks have an interlocking design, no additional tools are required to assemble them, or add to / modify them once built.
Analogue Pocket Handheld Multi Video Game System
"There is no better way to explore all of handheld gaming history than with Pocket." Granted, those are Analogue's words, not mine. And Analogue is the maker of Pocket, a handheld multi video game system with a tribute-to-Game-Boy shell, so they're probably biased. Still, reading about Pocket and all it can do is chipping away at my cynicism, especially when combined with looking at the thing. The sexiest handheld I ever saw.
