Analogue Pocket Handheld Multi Video Game System
"There is no better way to explore all of handheld gaming history than with Pocket." Granted, those are Analogue's words, not mine. And Analogue is the maker of Pocket, a handheld multi video game system with a tribute-to-Game-Boy shell, so they're probably biased. Still, reading about Pocket and all it can do is chipping away at my cynicism, especially when combined with looking at the thing. The sexiest handheld I ever saw.
Here, according to Analogue, is what pocketing a pocket will get you:
- Compatibility with all 2,780+ Game Boy games.
- Adapters for playing the entire libraries from Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Atari, and Lynx.
- A 3.5", 625 ppi LCD, with a 1600 x 1440 resolution that's 10 times that of the OG Game Boy. The screen is even made of Gorilla Glass.
- The ability to - curve ball! - make music. Pocket comes with Nanoloop, a built-in audio workstation that acts as a synthesizer and sequencer. MIDI and Sync cables also allow for connecting the console to a Mac, PC, or devices such as Teenage Engineering's Pocket Operator Synthesizers.
