WizDish - Moving Platform for VR Gaming
The WizDish is on a quest to make virtual reality and first-person gaming even more active and interactive without incurring costs prohibitive to 98% of the people who enjoy virtual reality and first-person gaming. The locomotion platform allows users to simulate walking and running, plus actually jump and turn, within the confines of its compact circular surface area. It has the functionality of an omni-directional treadmill, but requires no electricity or complex moving parts. Say hello to full body immersion into your once-upon-a-time environments.
The WizDish platform comprises high performance polymers molded into a shallow convex curve, which allows the body to bob up and down during forward movement, as well as start and stop moving suddenly without concern for slipping or falling off the disk. Also included in the set are WizShoes, a skate-type set of footwear designed especially for smooth WizDish use.
The WizDish is still in production, with British inventor Julian Williams and his cohort Charles King currently working the press and convention circuits to drum up some buzz and interest.
