Thames & Kosmos Wind Power 2.0
First you build the wind-powered generators. Then the wind spins the turbines. Then the turbines turn an electric generator. Then the electric generator charges some rechargeable AA batteries. And then--then!--you use those 6-degrees-of-separated-wind-charged batteries to power up a model tractor. Orrr you just play FarmVille 2: Country Escape on your Android.
Thames & Kosmos' Wind Power 2.0 kit teaches kids and people who are interested in things besides instant gratification how to energize electric vehicles with DIY wind-powered generators. Less the rechargeable batteries, each kit includes everything needed to build the turbines, including 2 styles of wind turbine blades and a gearbox with 3 different gear ratios. Adjusting the angle and number of wind turbine blades will alter the wind's focus and harness it differently for various experiments and activities. Once batteries are juiced, test them out on the kit's 6 model vehicles: a glider; a sail car; a jet car; a tractor; a race car; and a tricycle.
The Thames & Kosmos' Wind Power 2.0 set contains 133 building pieces and a 40-page full-color instruction book.
