Phone Toaster 5-in-1 UV-C Phone Sanitizer
According to Phone Toaster creator April Stone, her 5-in-1 UV-C germ nuker is "the world's most feature-packed phone sanitizer." We'll talk about that in a sec, but first I'd like to point out that the Phone Toaster is far from the world's first UV-C-driven phone sanitizer, and I'm not even including the slew of them that have come out since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
Phones have always been dirty playgrounds for everything from oil and grime to E. coli, staph, and coronaviruses, and companies have realized it for years now. The first product I myself saw that gives smartphones a UV scrubbin' is PhoneSoap, which I wrote about in 2012. Eight years ago. Funny how it seemed like a decent idea, but something I had much need for then.
The Phone Toaster, like most UV-C stuff sanitizers, claims to use its germicidal ultraviolet light (that's output in a range of 200-280nm) to kill 99.9% of germs. While it doesn't specifically count the COVID-19 coronavirus in its wheelhouse of targets, the Phone Toaster notes its technology has "proven effective against coronaviruses like SARS and MERS, close relatives of COVID-19, for which similar results can be expected, according to a factsheet published by the International Ultraviolet Association."
The main benefit I see to going with the Phone Toaster over other phone sanitizers is Stone obviously put a lot of thought into her product's design, and created something that will look nice in the background of Zoom calls and Instagram videos. Especially if you dig the modern vintage aesthetic, or need a gift for your mom.
Beyond that the Phone Toaster has 5 internal LEDs that provide UV-C sanitation in just a 5-minute toasting session. The device is also wireless, and comes with a fast wireless charger, in addition to an extra USB charging port. As you can see, the front of the Phone Toaster features an analog (alarm) clock and a speaker-looking face that is indeed a Bluetooth speaker.
