About West Coast Roasting Coffee

Nate and Melissa White created West Coast Roasting. They have hand-roasted, bagged, and labelled every batch of coffee they've ever produced. To order. Since long before, as they so winningly put it, "people put mustaches on cars" and "every other corner here in LA sported a 3rd Wave coffee shop." More specifically, West Coast Roasting has been grooming beans from green to rich-brown-coffee gleam since 2005. That's a lot of years of by-handiwork.

At printing, West Coast Roasting was producing 5 coffee and 2 espresso blends with equal parts skill and love. Nate and Melissa mad scientist all of their brain-sparking, soul-soothing flavors in a 6 lb San Franciscan roaster. Blends and beans rotate according to where the couple believes they can buy the best fair-trade product, and to what "tickles [their] fancy." They roast 5 lbs of coffee at a time from a 220-square-foot commercial space leased in December 2014; an upgrade from their previous roasting house, the back yard. Giveaway prize includes 2 pounds of coffee delivered monthly for the next 12 months. Coffee type is the winner's choice of any West Coast Roasting beans retailing for $25/pound or less. Winner can also select whole beans or opt to have his or her coffee ground prior to shipment. Retail value is $432.

The Year's Supply of West Coast Roasting Coffee Giveaway entry period is open through 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 18, 2015. Our drawn winner will be contacted by email within 48 hours of the entry period's conclusion, and will have 12 hours to respond and claim his/her prize. (Should we not hear back from a drawn winner in the specified time period, a new winner will be drawn and contacted.)

Winner should allow up to 3 weeks for prize delivery.

WCR sells their beans by the pound, and gets them from roaster to customers' countertops within 2 to 3 days of roasting. All of the whole-bean coffee sells through the West Coast Roasting online store, with shipments sent every Tuesday and Thursday.

OK, Sheen just got a signature coffee because he loves WCR (second only to coke and ladies of the night!) and Tweets about them sometimes. But, at Charlie's request, Nate and Melissa do donate $1 of every Blend 55 pound sold to The Mercy Centre, a non-profit that provides schooling, health care, anti-child trafficking, and AIDS crisis care to those living in the slums of Bangkok. It's an organization Charlie's brother, Ramon Estevez, is heavily involved in. WCR also donates $0.25 of every pound of any coffee they roast sold to their own favorite charitable org, the International Medical Corps.
