Bee Brick Bee Houses
Call them the building blocks of bee conservation. Bee Bricks, a clever contribution to the endangered solitary bee population, are filled cavities that provide a safe place for individual bees to lay their eggs. They come in 3 different shapes and sizes, designed either as a freestanding bee nest for the garden, or for integration into a brick wall or building.
Bee brick cavities are molded just partway through each brick, so bees won't have access to what's on the other side, if it happens to be your kitchen or bedroom. Once the females lay their eggs in the enclosed space, they fill in the other end of the hole with mud or chewed-up vegetation. When the eggs hatch the following spring, the babies bust on through, and hopefully get munching on the delicious poppies and sunflowers you have planted nearby.
Bee Bricks are made of polished cast concrete, and come Small Block (6.5 cm x 7 cm x 10.5 cm), Large Block (10.5 cm x 10.5 cm x 10.5 cm), and Brick (21.5 cm x 10.5 cm x 6.5 cm).
