CRKT designer Dew Hara named his Raikiri folding knife after a Japanese sword. According to folklore, the sword could cut a bolt of lightning in two. According to CRKT, the Raikiri folding knife...can't. But they say it can cut through more tangible objects, and serve as the closest thing to a sword a piece of EDC gets.

Hara's folder has a modified 3.759" wharncliffe blade with a satin finish and low-profile flipper. Overall length when open is 8.938", and closed is 5.112". In addition to its sword namesake, the Raikiri's contrasting line design is intended to visually emulate the famous sword Laido's slashing motion.

Functionally, Dew built the Raikiri with Field Strip technology. This allows carriers to disassemble the knife without tools for cleaning and maintenance while in the field.
