Recycled Firefighter The Chief Everyday Carry Backpack
What happens to all the American fire hose, combat boot leather, and firefighter bunker gear that has served its duty and been decommissioned? It gets sent to your wallets, your notebooks, and your Chief everyday carry backpack.
As a firefighter who regularly depends on their ruggedness and durability, Jake Starr has always known that his coats, pants, and firefighting tools can stand up to extreme temperatures, water pressures, and beatings. He launched the Recycled Firefighter brand as a way to repurpose these items after they've been retired from the field, but still have a lot of strength and reliability, plus a unique style, to give as EDC accessories. Star began by making recycled firehose wallets and cases in 2014. Now he has a line of gear that also includes notebooks, bags, duffels, and The Chief tactical backpack here.
The front panel of The Chief is hand-sewn from firefighter coats and pants, making each backpack unique with different swaths of fabric. Some will have striping, snaps, letters, numbers, even pockets, all positioned differently. The rest of The Chief is made with 1000D Cordura water-resistant nylon, and military-grade webbing and zippers. It's divided into one main interior compartment, large enough for a 15" laptop, and a pair of inside mesh pockets. There's also a zippered pouch on the front panel.
When opened, Recycled Firefighter's Chief is a lay-flat pack. It has a total volume of 21L.
