ARNOLD. Collector's Edition Coffee Table Book
Schwarzenegger said he'd be back, and here he is. In a giant, 2-volume, 800+-page, full-color spread for your coffee table. The ARNOLD. Collector's Edition release from Taschen is a pictorial tribute to the bodybuilder, the actor, the politician, and, most of all, the "fabulous photo subject."
ARNOLD. Collector's Edition took about a decade of collaboration to publish. Shots from photographers including Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts, Francesco Scavullo, and Andy Warhol feature in the book, and cover many of the 75 years of Schwarzenegger's life, beginning with his impoverished childhood in Austria, continuing through his Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia titles, and then his big screen and Gubernator days.
The total number of prints in the ARNOLD. series is 1,947 - the year Schwarzenegger was born - but this Collector's Edition subset includes No. 951-1,947, with each copy numbered and signed by Arnold himself. The primary volume, a 13.5" x 18", 17-pound whopper is all images, pictures that speak the thousands of words left out. The companion book is much smaller in size, but includes more intimate bodybuilding images, behind-the-scenes film stills, Arnold's own photos, and a few words, the latter in the form of exclusive interviews with Schwarzenegger and friends.
