Gunpowder Art
Mixed media artist and "gun dog mom" Rachel Lambert pours a love of hunting and fishing into her gunpowder art series. The pieces largely feature natural subjects, such as fish and game, but Lambert also forms etchings of states, icons of the America West, and the odd dinosaur or two amidst the burned grains of her chosen material.
While the gunpowder is real, gunpowder art pieces are not explosive. Lambert ignites the gunpowder herself in her studio, and shapes the images on archival board from the burned residue it leaves behind. As you can imagine, the process has an element of unpredictability to it, so no two pieces will be alike. Lambert makes all gunpowder artwork to order, in a range of sizes.
