This woodpecker door knocker has made my day. It has a pull cord attached to the spring-mounted birdie, and when you give it a yank, knock, knock, knock. That's adorable. And as someone who's seen an adorable knocker or two in his day, I would know.
The woodpecker door knocker comes as a DIY kit, which is kind of annoying if you don't like assembling things, but if you're looking for a kitschy housewarming gift, or the perfect no-tech gift for Dad, I think any recipient would be charmed by it. And maybe even use it. If not to install on the front door, maybe the door to their office, or as a desktop toy for everyone to use when they need to knock on wood. Or knock out some sick beats.
