CarbonLite Carbon Fiber Wrenches
Who wants the same kind of carbon fiber used to build F1 race cars and spaceships also used to build the tools used to build carbon fiber F1 race cars and spaceships? CarbonLite calls its carbon fiber wrenches "the next generation in hand tools made in the USA."
Each in the set of 5 wrenches is constructed from 3/8" high-strength carbon fiber and has stainless steel teeth. As durable, strong, and capable as any standard metal wrench, CarbonLite's differentiate themselves with carbon fiber's trademark trait: they're super light. The entire set weighs only 6.7 ounces. This gives them the edge in portability, particularly during activities such as cycling, rock climbing, sailing, and military endeavors.
Carbon fiber wrenches carry both standard and metric sizes on each tool. The 5 included cover 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", and 5/8", and 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, and 15mm.
As per usual, carbon fiber wrench pricing reflects its base material's typical costs. CarbonLite explains the material's high-end nature as a product of the labor involved in forging it: the kind used in their wrenches has over 25 individual layers of carbon fiber cloth that is impregnated with resin, vacuum bagged, and then autoclaved to harden. In addition, the set's hardened stainless steel teeth are individually cut from 3/8" thick stock to produce a metal insert 0.05" wide. Each CarbonLite wrench takes over 9 hours to fabricate.
