Schulz and Peanuts: A Biography
I could not draw for a shit when I was a kid. For some reason, I thought I needed a signature sketch that I could just pull out at any time. So I learned to draw Snoopy. I worked tirelessly, perfecting the shape of the nose, the curl of the mouth line. The dot eyeball. And when that 15 minutes of dedication was up, I had my signature sketch.
When I look back on that time, and some of those sketches now, I realize even those sucked too.
Now, you can read about the guy that inspired those shitty sketches.
Schulz and Peanuts: A Biography by David Michaelis tells the story of the legendary Peanuts creator, who incidentally was the son of a barber.
